Prep turn

prep turn (spot turn) (LEAD) *

TIMING - dancing off time in general. Needs to practise this

PREP HANDS - keep the "J" smaller, tighter and more under control to avoid affecting the girl too much. Keep it sharp and clean, not big and uncontrolled.....fingers should be in Spiderman position

FOOTWORK - remember to keep your feet moving backwards in basic step on 5-6-7 during her turn, to give her space to turn....

LEAD - Gentle slow small circle over her head - don't push hard, and don't lift her hand too high.....

Cross body lead

TIMING - dancing off time in general. Needs to practise this

SPEED - Don't lead her across too fast...give her a moment to "hold" on 3-4 before moving on 5

FRAME - need to hold your frame firm, square, and strong, to give her a consistent lead across

FOOTWORK - wider stance on count 3 so that you can lead her clear....and stand further away from her on 3

TIMING - dancing off time in general. Needs to practise this

SPEED - turn a little faster so that she has more time for her turn.....

HANDS - keep your hand low as possible while you're turning yourself so it's easier for girls. Bend your knees if necessary to come lower....

LEAD - Gentle slow small circle over her head - don't push hard, and don't lift her hand too high.....

FOOTWORK - practise the forward + pivot + turn footwork

Inside turns

TIMING - dancing off time in general. Needs to practise this

FOOTWORK - sometimes loses the footwork when focusing on the lead - means need more reps to get into muscle memory

FRAME - make sure your arms are in "hug a tree" position - wide circle. to make for a clearer lead....

HANDS - Keep your hand low during 5-6-7 before lifting it briefly on 7-8. Keeping hand low will help give her good momentum....

CONNECTION - Spiderman fingers, keep circle small, low, and LATE....

MOMENTUM - pull her forward with more momentum on 5-6

ENDING - follow her slightly so you end up closer to her and don't have to stretch to reach each other

FRAME - keep your turning frame low and firm, don't push your hand up.....

ENDING - practise a bit more on "holding" the 7-8 so that your don't step early and end up on the wrong foot....

WILL IMPROVE as you dance with more experienced boys in level 2.0....
